August 2010

August is a cruel month for gardening - that’s all there is to it.  About the only thing you can do is water, water, water, and tell everything to just hang in there for a little bit longer… relief is (almost) in sight!

Aside from watering we are actually very busy getting ready to open for the fall season in mid-September.  Seedlings and new cuttings that are looking good include white Echinacea, rose Echinacea, comfrey, dill, turk’s cap, Texas star hibiscus, Cuban oregano and more.

There will be a few new additions to our retail offerings in the guest house this fall, however I am keeping that a secret until next month!

I’ve been working on new and exciting recipes for fall luncheons and catering events, but that information will be kept a closely guarded secret as well until the time is right.

Later this month I will attend the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association yearly conference in San Antonio.  This 3-day event is packed with information and the trade show is phenomenal with many, many vendors (several hundred I would estimate).  I’m always looking for new and interesting ideas and this is the place to find them!  Find more information on this event at www.tnlaonline.com.

Keep watering those plants!
