We are closed for the summer... will open for fall season September 18, 2009

Pineywoods Herb Farm
"We measure time not only by duration but by a sense of its weight upon us.
In cities, time is a burden that we stumble under and feel threatened by;
In certain hidden country places time lies as lightly upon the landscape
as a leaf falling upon its own shadow."
Brendan Gill
Welcome to the Pineywoods Herb Farm Website
While not nearly as exciting as being here at the farm in person, our website can give you a taste of what and who we are and what goes on here at the herb farm.
Navigate around the website to get acquainted with the plants, animals, and other living creatures that call this place home, but be sure to plan a visit out here to really appreciate what we are all about. Words and pictures can only go so far when you are describing herbs and herbal products... you really must experience the wonderful aromas and intoxicating fragrances by smelling them! How else can you enjoy the fresh, piney scent of rosemary, the musky, woodsy scent of thyme, the sweet/sour, lemon-drop scent of lemon verbena, the MINTY blast of mint, the clean, apple scent of chamomile, or the most unforgettable sweet, old-fashioned scent of lavender? Can't you almost smell them now?
We offer a wide variety of herb plants, trees and native plants, many unusual and not easily found elsewhere - bay leaf (bay laurel) trees, allspice trees, Cuban oregano, low-growing rosemary, several types of passionflower vines including pure white, and lavender plants adapted to our hot, humid environment are just a few of the many plants we sell here at Pineywoods Herb Farm. We will soon be offering dogwood trees grown here from seed collected from dogwoods that we grew from seed... granddogs! If you have had trouble growing dogwood trees in the past come see us... we have a few suggestions (and our trees) that could prove successful for you.
We have several large herb beds planted (more on the way) that showcase many types of mature herbs. Take time to meander the pathways of the beds, stroking the plants to release their wonderful herbal fragrance, or even pinch off a leaf to nibble on... sampling is allowed and encouraged! And you will no doubt encounter many butterflies and bees sampling their way amongst the herbs as well. There is no nasty chemical residue to worry about for humans or insects, as all our plants are grown and maintained organically.
In the guest house you will find fabulous all-natural, hand-made herbal soap along with a wide variety of other natural products and gift items, including old-fashioned lavender rose potpourri made right here at the farm.
We are located in beautiful East Texas in the town of Kennard, approximately halfway between Lufkin and Crockett. Click on the Find Us / Contact Us page above for more detailed directions, or just give us a call.
Come on out and meet all our wonderful scents and tastes in person... we look forward to seeing you here!

Summer 2009 (June - mid-September)
We are open by appointment only (call us) through the heat of the summer... we will open for the fall season on Friday, September 18th. We have a limited variety of potted plants/herbs until fall but if you are looking for something in particular give us a call. We do have all your favorite herbal soap, candles, etc., through the summer so if you are in need (or just want some!) give us a call - 936-655-2416.
New this year!
We now have seed packets available from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds... vegetables, flowers, some fruit, all are open pollinated, non-hybridized, non-genetically messed with seeds. Varieties your grandparents or great-grandparents used to grow (you remember... they actually TASTED GOOD!) Well, you can have that great taste once again coming from your very own garden. If you are interested in seeds and want to get a head start on the fall growing season give us a call - you can come out before our fall opening and get what you want.
Have your organization meeting and luncheon here
We have facilities to host garden clubs, church groups or service organizations for meetings and luncheons, or get a group of friends together for a wonderful gourmet herbal lunch in the country! Luncheons feature all courses prepared with our own fresh herbs and other goodies from the gardens. Call Cindy for more details on having your event here at Pineywoods Herb Farm.
